Man sold drugs to fund his own habit
A man sold cocaine to friends to fund his own habit, a court has heard.
Martin John Harrison, 44, pleaded guilty at Skipton Magistrates' Court to the possession and supply of cocaine and possessing cannabis.
Harrison, of Green Lane, Glusburn, was arrested after police raided his home on April 22.
"Officers found drug paraphernalia and a debt list at the flat," prosecution solicitor Mark Haigh said. "He admits using cocaine himself and selling it in order to fund his habit."
Harrison's solicitor, John Mewies, said that it was low scale dealing by a man who had developed a small habit of his own. He said: "He has thankfully relinquished the habit and is not dependent on any substance."
After a probation report, magistrates said they were pleased that Harrison had seen the error of his ways. He was sentenced to a community order, with 180 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £43 costs.
