MORE than 150 players helped pay tribute to former Sunday league footballer Steven Allen at his memorial tournament.
Thirty-two teams took part in a five-a-side competition held for the second time after Steven, popularly known as Stiggy, died in an industrial accident in March 2007.
The compeition was organised by Steven's family and former club Keighley Royal and held on Sunday at Marley stadium.
Steeton AFC Reserves took the honours thanks to a 1-0 extra time victory over Aire Valley. Funds raised from the charity event will go towards the Keighley-based Handicapped Children's Pilgrimage Trust and, although the final total has yet to be finalised, organisers are hoping to collect around £1,000.
Keighley Royal secretary Gareth Wilson said: "It was a fun day played in the right spirit and having 32 teams take part shows how popular Steven was."
He thanked sponsors Timothy Taylor brewery, JN Bentley and Worthprint for their support as well as referees who gave up their match fees for charity.
