Film is made of ex-student’s life

The early life of a former resident of the Guard House area of Keighley has been treated to a film interpretation thanks to the efforts of school pupils.

Year four children at Guard House Primary School acted out the experiences of Keighley resident Paul Jeffrey, who attended the same school when he was growing up in the area.

Extra curricular activities co-ordinator Shaun Wiseman said: "Paul had the kids enthralled. He's such a character and a great story teller."

The 16 children used camcorders and computer editing to film each other acting out scenes from Mr Jeffrey's life in Guard House 30 years ago.

Mr Jeffrey himself provided the voice over.

The completed film - which is 10 minutes long and called "A Day in the Life" - was screened before an audience of about 200 parents at the Showcase Cinema, in Sheffield. Films put together by children from four other schools were also shown.

Mr Wiseman said he was delighted with the outcome of the project, which involved the pupils in interviewing, filming, editing and acting.

"It developed a very wide range of skills outside the school curriculum," he said. "The kids were fantastic - they weren't afraid to have a go and they had a whale of a time."
