Keighley RUFC have done something which has never happened before in its history - the person voted the Clubman of the Year for the 2007-08 season wasn't a man!

Incoming Keighley chairman David Mortimer said: "It was Kate Swift, who is doing wonders for the club, both as membership secretary - getting all those subscriptions in is no easy task - and also as health and safety supremo, a subject on which Kate is an expert."

"Although the award is the result of a secret ballot the outcome is something of a family affair as the trophy was presented by outgoing club chairman, Bob Swift, who happens to be Kate's father!"

"Bob's contribution to the club is as equally distinguished as his father Gilbert's as player, captain and for many years club chairman.

Bob has "handed over the reins" as chairman at the start of the new season and Mortimer is expecting this season to be an exciting one.
