Well-known Keighley pub operators Billy Carter and partner Claire Muldoon are the new tenants at the town’s Albert Hotel.

They said they were looking to boost trade, particularly weekdays, at the Timothy Taylor-owned Bridge Street pub.

Billy has run the Cavendish Hotel in Keighley for five years and Claire has been behind the bar at Muldoon`s Irish pub, in North Street, for the ten years. Claire said: “The Albert is a fantastic, traditional town centre tavern and we’re really excited at the prospect of building up the business – particularly during the week – and making a success of reviving its fortunes.”

The pub’s pool and darts teams compete in leagues most evenings of the week and the couple have started a dominoes school every Tuesday and Thursday, at 4pm.

They also plan to introduce a poker school and use the upstairs function room. Timothy Taylor’s tied estate manager, Andrew Daykin, said: “Billy and Claire are well known in Keighley and have been successfully running pubs in the town for many years.”
