Winter blood plea is issued

Blood donor chiefs are urging people to help keep stock levels healthy this autumn.

Donna Batty, for NHS Blood and Transplant, said: “As the weather gets colder, people are more likely to stay indoors, but we would like to remind people that they only need to spend an hour of their time with us in order to help save lives.

“With the increase in the cold and flu this season, it is vital that those who are able to donate do so, to keep stock levels healthy.”

There is a session planned at Silsden Methodist Church on Thursday, November 8, from 2.30pm to 4pm and 5pm to 7.30pm.

Anyone aged 17 to 65, weighing more than 50kg and in general good health could become a donor.
