Hundreds attend Sutton meeting on Thompson's Field homes bid
8:53am Thursday 1st November 2012 in News
Campaigners packed into a church yesterday afternoon as councillors debated controversial plans for a 53-home development on green field land.
About 150 members of the public attended the Craven District Council planning committee meeting, at South Craven Baptist Church in Sutton.
Barratt and David Wilson Homes are proposing to build the development on a site known as Thompson’s Field, at Holme Lane in the village.
The plans – which also include car parking, a wild flower meadow and riverside walk – were recommended for approval. If it goes ahead, the scheme will be subject to a legal agreement to secure the provision of open space and a contribution of £190,000 to education.
