The Keighley branch of the Yorkshire Building Society has given £100 each to five good causes.

The organisations benefited from the annual Make a Difference Week held by the society’s charitable foundation.

Customers and other local people were able to nominate charities they believed deserved a donation.

Among those benefiting were Prism, which works with disadvantaged young people in Keighley, and Keighley drugs and alcohol agency Project 6.

The Danny Ryan Memorial Fund, which each year supports young people in Keighley who live with a disability or medical condition, also received £100.

Money was given to animal welfare bodies PDSA Bradford and Cats Protection League Wharfedale.

Ann-Marie Mullins, manager of the society’s Keighley branch in North Street, said: “Make A Difference Week has been a fantastic success, with some of our wonderful local charities and good causes receiving a nomination for support.”

The society’s Charitable Foundation has run the Make Difference Week giveaway for five years and in that time has distributed more than £500,000 to charities across the country.

The donation to the charities in Keighley comes from Yorkshire Building Society’s Small Change Big Difference scheme.
