Masked raiders escape with jewellery from shop

Two masked raiders escaped with jewellery from a Keighley shop.

The men entered Cash Converters, in Cavendish Street, at about 5pm on Saturday.

They removed a quantity of jewellery from a counter and ran from the premises, getting into a silver VW Golf where it is believed two other men were waiting.

The car was then driven off in the direction of the railway station.

Police have today appealed for witnesses to the incident and information about the suspects, who were both wearing balaclavas and dark clothing.

And they ask anyone who is offered jewellery to come forward.

Detective Inspector Mark Long, of Airedale and North Bradford CID, said: “No one was injured during the incident, however it was understandably an upsetting experience for the employees.

"The jewellery taken was worth a considerable amount and each item was contained within a box.

"It is possible that those responsible may have attempted to sell these items in the local area. I would therefore ask anyone who has come across this jewellery or the boxes to get in touch immediately.

"Similarly, I would urge people to call if they have been offered such items under unusual or suspicious circumstances.”

He added: “It is important we hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information about the culprits.

"In particular, we are keen to capture any details that could help us identify the silver vehicle they made away in or its current location.

"If you can assist in our investigations, call us on the non-emergency number 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
