Van attacked by arsonist close to buses
11:00am Friday 16th November 2012 in News
A van was torched in Keighley last weekend only yards from a compound full of double-decker buses.
Firefighters stopped flames from the white Transit van reaching vehicles belonging to bus company Transdev Keighley and District. The van, which was set alight around 10.30pm on Friday, was in a fenced-off car park at Keighley Plumbers Merchants in Temple Street.
Watch commander Mark Collingwood, from Keighley fire station, said: “If we'd got to it 10 or 15 minutes later when the whole van was alight possibly it could have damaged the buses.”
Keighley Plumbers Merchants owner Ram Abrol said he had no idea why someone would target the vehicle for arson.
He said: “My van has been parked there for 20 years and nothing like that has happened before.”
