Dozens of stalls offered a wealth of festive season products and gifts for shoppers in Haworth Park.

Hundreds flocked to the village’s annual Christmas market, which enjoyed success at its new venue.

The Bradford Council event had previously taken place in Haworth Main Street, but was moved to the park following complaints about the nuisance and disruption it caused for people living in the street.

The move was criticised by some people who argued Main Street had been the best possible location for the annual attraction.

Despite the change in venue, last weekend’s event attracted plenty of visitors and locals, who came to sample the varied goods on offer.

Haworth bed and breakfast owner Mike Hutchinson said more than 60 stalls were there, selling items such as clothes, jewellery, cosmetics and food.

“It was very, very busy,” he said. “People were disappointed that it wasn’t in Main Street, and the park did get a bit churned up by the vehicles, but otherwise it went well.

“It was busier on the Sunday, probably because it was so beautiful and sunny. There was a great atmosphere.”

Mr Hutchinson added: “I’d been to the Christmas market in Sheffield too, but there were actually many more stalls at Haworth.”

Bradford Council declined to comment about the success of the new venue.
