A work club set up at Keighley Library is helping people gain IT skills so they can search online for jobs.

The club meets at the North Street building every Thursday, between 10am and noon.

Libraries across the district are playing an increasing role in assisting people with IT issues.

During the past 15 months, as part of the Government’s Go ON UK 2012 initiative, local libraries have dealt with more than 30,000 computer-related inquiries.

Coun Susan Hinchcliffe, Bradford Council’s executive member for culture, said: “Our library staff have been great. Many more people now have access to the internet because of their help and assistance.

“I would encourage everyone to use their local library to gain access to the online world. It enables people to get information about jobs and local activities and stay in touch with friends and relatives overseas.”
