Incommunities housing staff are touring the district aboard a bus this week to raise awareness of benefits changes.
Stops in Keighley will include Broster Avenue tomorrow, from 9am, followed by Bracken Bank Avenue from 1pm.
Under the new Welfare Reform Act, thousands of working-age residents will be affected by changes to housing benefit rules.
Incommunities estimates about 2,700 of its customers could be hit by ‘under occupancy’ alterations being introduced next April, whereby residents classed as having spare bedrooms face a cut in benefit payments.
Staff on the roadshow bus will be joined by experts from CHAS@ St Vincent’s, who will offer money and debt advice, and colleagues from Bradford District Credit Union.
Dave Dickens, director of Incommunities–Income Management, said: “We want to ensure all residents are aware of the options open to them and offer them the right individual support to meet their needs.”
