Concert will help pay the bills for Silsden footballer Oliver injured in Spain

A rock concert in Silsden this Thursday will help fund medical costs for a young village footballer injured in Spain.

Oliver Simeone suffered a broken leg while playing in last summer's Copa Catalunya tournament with the Silsden AFC under-16s team.

Oliver had to undergo several follow-up treatments including trips to specialists in Sheffield, and a course of physiotherapy.

He had originally planned to go to sports college to train for a career in sport.

The team, which had won the tournament in 2011, was forced to pull out of its last match.

Team members have now united with local musicians to take part in the benefit concert at Silsden Sports Club.

The performers are CC and the Monkey B, The Escapades, Franko Bono, The Vibe, Jim and Lee, Sean Kildunne, and 60s covers band The Big Bang.

The ticket-only concert begins at 6pm and food will be available. Tickets priced £5 are available from Darren on 07792 501032 or John Lohan at Airevalley IFA office.
