Thursday: Oakworth Police and Community Contact Point, telephone number 647574, is open every Thursday, from 1.30-3.30pm in Holden Hall. The volunteers are trained to give you advice or, if they don’t have the answer they will find it for you. If you have a non-urgent message for our Neighbourhood Police Team and are unable to get into the Contact Point, you can now leave messages in our post box situated on the wall in the Post Office inside the Co-op. Messages will be collected weekly by Contact Point staff and will be passed on to our police team who will deal with them as soon as possible. You can also reach the contact point by email on contactoakworth@ yahoo.co.uk or by phone on 644001.
Oakworth old people’s welfare group meets in Holden Hall every Thursday afternoon from 1.45-3.30pm. A good place to go and meet new people of a similar age, with similar interests. There is always something going on with bingo, dancing and refreshments.
Shape and Tone, circuit-based exercise class with Joe at Oakbank recreation centre from 7-8pm. For further details, contact Joe on 07719 186964.
Tai kwando classes are held at Oakbank recreation centre on Thursday evening from 6-7pm for children aged six to 12 and from 7-8.30pm for juniors and seniors over 13. Keighley Youth Theatre, KYDZ, meets every Thursday at Oakworth Methodist Church. The group has up to 20 members aged ten to 18, and new members are recruited through drama workshops. At the Thursday sessions the group learns drama skills as well as devising performances. The group usually presents two stage productions each year.

Friday: A very active Scout troop meets every Friday during term time at 7pm in Oakworth Methodist Church lounge.
Sunday: Christ church: today’s eucharist service will be at 9.30am, followed by tea and coffee in the church hall.
St Johns Church, Newsholme: today’s sung eucharist service will be at 11.15am.
Methodist church: No service at Oakworth today but a shared service at Exley Head led by the Rev Alan Raine, starts at 10.30am.
Today’s service at Slack Lane Baptist Church will be at 10.45am.
Crossing the Bridge is a youth group for Oakworth young people aged 13 to 18 who are interested in learning more about being a Christian in today’s society. The group meets fortnightly on a Sunday evening from 7-8.30pm at Oakworth Methodist Church. Meetings are varied using ideas put forward from all members of the group, which is usually a mixture of Bible study, discussion, music and food.

Rainbows and Brownies meet this evening. Rainbows from 5.15-6.15pm and Brownies from 6.30-7.45pm. The ages for Rainbows are five to seven and for Brownies seven to ten, after that you advance to Girl Guides.
Oakworth Ruggers - remember your mum or gran making rugs out of old clothes cut into strips and prodded through hessian to make cosy, comfortable rugs? This craft is alive and well in Yorkshire, Airedale Ruggers having more than 20 members. A small group meet in Oakworth Methodist Church lounge on the third Monday of each month at 6.30pm. Anyone interested please come along, see what we do and have a go.

Oakworth Morris dancers are always on the look out for dancers and musicians to help continue the tradition. New members are always welcome and they claim that they can teach anyone to dance. Morris dancing is a rewarding hobby with the added bonus of an active social side as they attend events around the country.
They practise most Monday nights between September and July at Oakworth Methodist Church from 8pm onwards but it is advisable to contact them beforehand to make sure there is a practice on the night you wish to attend. Further information can be obtained from ovmm.co.uk.

A baby and toddler play group runs from 9.15-11.15am, term time only in the main room at Holden Hall. Youngsters can learn and play, listen to stories and and sing along. It is run by a small, hard-working committee and there is music and structured play for the little ones with a healthy snack included in the admission price of £2 (reduced cost for subsequent children). Mums, dads, grandparents and carers can enjoy each others company while watching the children play and also get involved with their games. Please note that help is needed from the parents each week getting out and putting away the toys.
Zumba classes this evening from 7-8pm run by fitness team/Zumba instructors – BodyblitzGB at Holden Hall. Admission is £5.

The Fish Club is group for children in school years 3 and 4, teaching them about God is held at Oakworth Methodist Church and run by volunteers from Christ Church, at 3.30pm.

A coffee morning is held every Wednesday at Christ Church, with Fairtrade tea and coffee and biscuits, from 10-11.30am. This is followed by a short eucharist service at 11.30am for those who wish to stay.

For serious slimmers the only place to be is Holden Hall where Slimming World is holding classes at 5-6pm and 7-8pm this evening.
