‘Waste need not go to waste this Christmas’
1:00pm Sunday 30th December 2012 in News
Keighley householders are being urged to recycle their Christmas waste.
Bradford Council said batteries, bottles, cans, cardboard, cards, real Christmas trees and wrapping paper were among items which could be taken to its recycling sites.
Coun Andrew Thornton, executive member for environment and sport, said: “It’s very important at Christmas that we recycle extra waste to cut down on the amount going to landfill.
“We wish everyone a great time but we want them to bear in mind how much damage to the environment can result if we don’t recycle our rubbish.”
The Council’s household waste recycling centres at Royd Ings Avenue, Keighley, and Sugden End, Cross Roads, will be open for the remainder of the festive period, except New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. Householders with recycling bins can, if they have excess material, leave it out in bags on collection day.
