Kath Sawley, centre, joins fellow Alley Cats dancers for some line dancing to celebrate her 90th birthday
A second member of a Bracken Bank line dancing club has celebrated her 90th birthday.
Kath Sawley boot-scooted her way to match the achievement of fellow Alley Cats member Marjorie Gill.
Earlier this year Marjorie, of Haworth, was treated to a surprise birthday celebration when she reached the milestone.
And Kath was honoured at last week’s gathering at the Sue Belcher Community Centre.
Kath has attended the club since it began more than a decade ago at the estate’s former St Michael’s Centre.
Dance teacher, Shirley Everett, said: “Alley Cats started as a tea dance but nobody wanted that. One of the ladies liked line dancing, and it went like a bomb.
“We have a few younger ones now – people in their early 60s.”
Alley Cats don’t focus on traditional line-dancing tunes, such as country and western, but danced to everything from bossa nova and waltzes to Lady Gaga.
She added: “Marjorie and Kath enjoy watching what the younger ones can do, but they also enjoy jigging around with the best of them!”
