A Cullingworth butchers has been named as a Yorkshire finalist in an awards scheme dubbed the ‘rural Oscars’.
Ellisons, in Halifax Road, is one of four finalists in the butcher category of the Countryside Alliance Awards.
It has been shortlisted alongside butchers from Huddersfield, Harrogate and Bedale, following nominations by customers.
The winning butcher, which will be announced this month, will join other section winners in the national finals in March.
The Countryside Alliance Awards, now in their eighth year, celebrate the characters, skills, traditions and enterprise of the countryside.
Ellisons are no strangers to award success, with the most recent being a hat-trick of golds in a national contest.
In the Smithfield awards, the business won accolades for its pork sausages and pork pies, its Lamb Chunkie and Beef Wellington.
