Super slimmer Tony Fordham’s flab-fighting joy
12:00pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in News By David Knights
Tony Fordham was persuaded to join his wife at slimming classes – and lost more than 9st himself.
Oxenhope software developer Anthony, 30, is a shadow of his former self, fighting the flab to shrink from 24st 2lb to 14st 9lb in just 11 months.
By the summer, he had lost enough weight to take up running again and has since competed in 10k events.
Tony’s wife, Laura, joined a Weight Watchers group in Haworth Chapel to beat the bulge following the birth of the couple’s second son, William.
Tony, who also has a three-year-old son, Eddie, joined the Wednesday morning sessions last January and set himself a goal weight of 14st 9lb.
He said: “I thought it would be beneficial – it was wearing me out running after two small children.
“The main thing has been following a points plan rigorously, and thinking about eating rather than just eating because food was there.”
Tony also ate smaller portion sizes and more fruit and veg, then added exercise to the mix.
He added: “In the summer, I started with three or four miles and built up. I did the Abbey Dash in Leeds and was considerably faster than before.”
The Weight Watchers class is run by Joanne Cutts at West Lane Baptist Church. She can be contacted on 07939 564773.
