Police are following up new leads in the suspected death of a man who disappeared in Keighley 12 years ago.

Information has come from Keighley people in the past few days since murder squad detectives launched a fresh appeal for information.

Alan Crabtree is feared dead having not been seen since September 13, 2000.

A spokesman for Airedale and North Bradford Police this week said: “We did receive a couple of calls from the Keighley area, which we are following up. Inquiries are ongoing.”

Mr Crabtree, who was well-known in the Tong Street, Allerton and Holme Wood areas of Bradford, was 41 when he vanished without trace.

He left his home in Westgate Hill, Tong Street, Bradford, and travelled by bus with a woman friend to Keighley, where he joined other friends for a drinking session at a house in Alice Street. It is understood he left to make his way to Keighley station.

In February 2010, police said they believed Mr Crabtree was dead.

Later that year, officers arrested three people on suspicion of Mr Crabtree’s murder. They were later released without charge.
