Keighley groups set to hold Feeling Better Together mental health event

An event to promote better mental health began with a relaxing cuppa.

About 60 local people of all ages and backgrounds gathered for the Feeling Better Together event.

As they sat down in Central Hall, Keighley, they were served tea by the recently-established business Pop Up Vintage Tea Rooms. They were also given cakes provided by Amber Tariq, one of ten volunteer helpers known as ‘ambassadors’.

Activities during the day included live music, hula hooping, hand painting and testimonials from people who had experienced depression.

Feeling Better Together was organised by local organisations including Positive Minds and Keighley and Ilkley Voluntary and Community Action.

They said the event was successful in bringing people together from different faiths, cultures and walks of life in an informal way to network and promote better mental health.

Community development worker, Jo Horrox, said: “It was really nice to see so many different people coming together to have fun and enjoy themselves.”

Similar events will be organised in the future.
