Big Glusburn panto cast play it with gusto

Red Riding Hood -- Glusburn Youth Theatre
Director James Jennings had to marshal the biggest Glusburn panto cast for quite a few years in this traditional family show.
The result was a colourful show bursting with song, dance, comic skits and terrific special effects, all delighting youngsters in the audience. Callum Spencer was the star of the show as Granny Hood, at his funniest ad-libbing when things went wrong, while Madeleine Lloyd and Lily Dixon sang nicely as Red Riding Hood and her Prince.
The plot was quite muddled, several characters and locations popping up without any apparent relevance in the first act. Thankfully the second act saw this convoluted nonsense play second fiddle to an almost non-stop succession of song and dance numbers.
Here we found most of the show’s highlights – dances in subdued lighting, chorus numbers sung with gusto and several all-smiles finale songs.
