A young ballet dancer from Bradley has been chosen to perform in a professional production of Coppelia in June.

Emily Paul, 12, was selected after two-hour National Youth Ballet auditions at York Grand Opera House.

Also successful was Hannah Eastham, a fellow pupil of the Skipton-based Northern Dance Centre. It was their first-ever audition.

“The girls still have huge smiles on their faces,” said dance centre principal Amy Addison. “We are delighted for both girls as they work so hard and have gained distinctions for all their ballet exams to date. They are both working towards their RAD Intermediate exam this summer.”

Emily, a student at South Craven School in Cross Hills, only started dancing two years ago.

The girls will be joined by ten students of Keighley dance school the Sara Packham Theatre Academy, who also had successful auditions for the shows, as revealed in last week’s Keighley News.

Coppelia will be performed at York Grand Opera House on June 7 and 8.
