Funds and venue for Keighley activity clubs
1:00pm Wednesday 13th March 2013 in News
Funding and a venue have been secured for new activity clubs for children in the Fell Lane area of Keighley.
Organisers are booking two weekly sessions at the 1st Keighley (Fell Lane) Scouts’ hut in Holme Mill Lane.
They have secured cash from the Keighley West Community First fund and the budgets of Bradford ward councillors.
A meeting was recently held at the hut to tell youngsters about the plans and recruit adult leaders.
Sessions are likely to begin towards the end of April, on Mondays for under-12s and on Fridays for teenagers.
The teenagers’ club will be run by Bradford Council’s Youth Service, and the junior club initially by Free Range Play and Bradford Play Team Volunteers are still particularly needed for the junior club, and they will receive free CRB checks and training.
Community development worker Pip Gibson said: “Volunteers will eventually take over the running of the club.”
