Troubled travel firm Thomas Cook to keep Keighley branch open

Keighley’s branch of Thomas Cook is not on a list of outlets earmarked for closure by the troubled firm, it was announced this morning.

Earlier this month the travel agent said it would be cutting 2,500 jobs in the UK and closing almost 200 stores to try to revive its profitability.

No one at the the Keighley branch - in College Walk, in the Airedale Shopping Centre - would comment but a spokesman at the business’s press office confirmed today there were no plans in place to close it.

Joanna Wild, managing director of the Thomas Cook Co-operative retail network, said: “We can confirm that our Thomas Cook Keighley store has not been affected by the current plans to close stores.

“We continually review our store network to ensure that we are best placed to remain the UK’s leading travel retailer.”
