Keighley 28, Beverley 38
This SSE North One East match was very competitive.
The first half was very much an arm wrestle, which resulted in three penalties from Alex Brown and a try apiece for the Beverley back-row duo of former Bees and Wharfedale player James Holland and Dave Worrall, outside half Phil Douboulay adding a conversion.
At the start of the second half, Brown levelled the scores with a further penalty.
Although Keighley were often shaded in the forward exchanges, the Beverley backs were on form, some quick handling leading to a try for centre Junior Tupai, converted by Duboulay.
Minutes later, winger Tomasi Tanumi broke free to score, Duboulay again adding the extras, but Brown managed to narrow the gap with two difficult penalties.
Keighley pressure then gave winger Sam Walker the space he needed to score in the corner and Beverley were forced to raise their game, once again some slick offloading and poor first-up tackles leading to a second try for Worrall and a run-in for second row Gavin Gibson, both converted by Duboulay.
Keighley, fighting to the end, deserved their final try, well-taken by winger Mick Phillips.
