A businessman still plans to build hundreds of houses on fields at Haworth, despite little movement on the plans for more than half a year.

Perves Abbas announced proposals for up to 300 houses on land he owns at Weavers Hill in September. On several occasions since then he has said a planning application is imminent.

Speaking yesterday, he said: “Plans will be submitted sometime within the next two weeks.

“We are refining things and we’re almost ready to submit an application. We are waiting for traffic surveys and things like that to come back. I will have a meeting with residents soon.”

He said the initial application would be for 97 houses – a reduction from the 120 he originally planned for the site. If approved, this would be followed by an application for a further 200 houses.
