Running one marathon this spring just wasn’t enough for a Keighley restaurateur!
Syed Ahmed, who completed the London Marathon last month, has also successfully crossed the line in this year’s Edinburgh Marathon, despite having a long-term spinal condition called ankylosing spondylitis.
The owner of Moghuls in North Street finished the Edinburgh event on Sunday in a time of four hours and 54 minutes.
“It was a bit of a struggle, but once I got to the halfway mark it was fine,” he said. “I just took it easy from then on and enjoyed the rest of the run.
“I’m glad I persevered and that I was able to manage the training. It’s hard enough running a marathon when you’re fit, but to have finished two marathons when I have ankylosing spondylitis proves anything is achievable if you put your mind to it.”
Syed (pictured) ran the Edinburgh Marathon with his brother-in-law, Kamal Chowdhury, who lives in Manchester.
Syed, 45, who is a married father of two, was running to raise £4,000 to help people with prostate cancer.
