Keighley’s Airedale Shopping Centre will be transformed into a wonderland on Saturday.

Visitors will have the chance to meet – and be photographed with – a range of characters from Alice in Wonderland.

And the star of the ‘show’ will be Alice herself, played by eight-year-old Elise Gill, of Low Fell Close in Keighley.

She is reprising the role she starred in as a six-year-old in a Stagecoach theatre production.

“I loved playing Alice because I got to sing my own part and because it was fun,” said Elise, a pupil at Nessfield Primary School in Keighley.

“Alice is a very kind little girl, and she gets to go to this secret land and it feels very magical when you are acting it.”

Saturday’s free event, from 11am to 4pm, will include a cupcake decorating workshop, a Mad Hatter’s story time and balloon modelling.

Centre manager, Steve Seymour, said: “Having Elise make a special visit and join us for our Alice in Wonderland event will make the day extra special.

“I feel sure she will bring some of the magic of Wonderland with her, which is sure to rub off on all the families coming to enjoy the fantastic activities we have planned.”
