A village event has been saved after an SOS from organisers brought forward new volunteers.

More than 30 people attended a crisis meeting held by the Bradley Family Show Day committee in the village hall.

“The response was excellent and we are very relieved,” said committee member Andrew Symonds.

“We were down to five people in terms of the organising committee, which just wasn’t viable for the work that’s involved. The event is a focal point for the village to celebrate, but it is also to raise funds for local organisations and amenities. However it was only just breaking even.”

This year’s show – on September 1 – includes a fancy dress parade, fell running, brass band, games, stalls and produce.
