Incommunities has launched an annual search for its star tenants.

The social housing group is looking to reward outstanding individuals and groups. They can win recognition for anything, ranging from green-fingered skills to their community work.

Last year’s star awards saw accolades being presented to several Keighley tenants and groups.

Among them were gold winners Brenda Templeton and Arthur Trower, for a communal garden at North Beck House in Westgate Gardens, and young Nathan Connelly who received a ‘rising star’ honour for his volunteer work.

This year’s awards are in seven categories – individual garden/display; communal garden, celebrating a group’s efforts at a sheltered scheme or block of flats; kids corner, for under-16s’ gardening efforts; rising star, for under-21s who have overcome a personal barrier or made a difference to their community; community star, for a tenant who has helped make their area a better place; star neighbour and star team or employee, which celebrates the work of an Incommunities team or staff member.

Adrienne Reid, Incommunities assistant chief executive (neighbourhood services), said: “Our 2013 star awards promise to be bigger and better than ever, and the search starts now to find our ‘magnificent seven’!

“These awards are a great way of showcasing how individuals of all ages and groups are improving lives and neighbourhoods.”

Closing date is July 19, and winners will be announced during a ceremony at the Midland Hotel in Bradford in September.
