A Keighley councillor has been reassured efforts are being made to sell a derelict pub in his ward.
Keith Dredge has spoken with the company that owns the former Timothy Taylor pub in Braithwaite Avenue.
He was told the company is keen to see the building – last open as the Braithwaite Tavern – brought back into use.
Coun Dredge, who represents Keighley West ward on Bradford Council, has campaigned for several months for action at the site. He said the rundown building is an eyesore in an area surrounded by well-kept pensioners’ gardens and modern primary schools.
Coun Dredge told the Keighley News there were “a dozen different options” for how to re-use the site.
He said: “The owners of the pub have had it on the market. They’re trying to do something with it – free their assets so someone can do something useful.
“It’s just a question of who buys it. We don’t want someone buying it and keeping it as it is. We’re interested in what’s best for the area.”
Coun Dredge said a large piece of land behind the pub could also be ripe for development.
