A striking new sculpture symbolising the ethos of a Worth Valley primary took pride of place at the school’s art exhibition.
Following a two-day workshop with sculptor Craig Dyson, Haworth Primary School put the metal cockerel on display, together with many other artistic creations.
Mr Dyson is a former Haworth Primary pupil, who was keen to share his skills by working with the school’s year five students.
Headteacher, Janet Parkinson, explained the cockerel sculpture reflected the school’s healthy, environmentally-friendly curriculum, which has previously led to it being chosen as a flagship for the Food for Life Partnership.
Mrs Parkinson added: “Craig has been a wonderful role model for our pupils, showing them they need to develop their talents and work hard in order to achieve their dreams.”
Mr Dyson, 23, said: “I’m finding it a pleasure working with schools around the Bradford area, not least of which is my very own old school in Haworth.
“Seeing and encouraging this level of creativity within education is without doubt the most rewarding side of my work. I hope it’s equally as valuable for the people involved.”
