West Lane Methodist Church’s congregation said goodbye on Sunday to their fifth minister in four years. The Rev Jacky Hale, superintendent minister of the Airedale circuit, who took on Haworth and Marsh churches last November, is moving next month. She will become superintendent of the Ryedale circuit which includes Helmsley and Malton. Jacky linked readings from the prophet Amos and the gospel story of the Good Samaritan with the present day. The circuit farewell service will be at Jacky’s home church of Silsden on Sunday.

Our Worth Valley neighbourhood Policing Team are setting up a contact network – an e-mail alert system to inform residents of relevant information of local crime, bulletins and updates in our area. The “812” Bronte Scenic Bus Tour will operate on all Sundays and Bank Holidays until August 26. They coincide with the arrival of the Keighley and Worth Valley trains at Haworth Station. The buses leave the station at 10.50am, 11.45am, 12.40pm, 2pm. 2.55pm and 3.45pm travelling to The Parsonage, Stanbury, Ponden, Scar Top, Moore Lodge, back to Ponden, Penistone Hill, Marsh Chapel, Sun Street and back to Haworth Station, Haworth & Oxenhope District Bridleways Group’s next dressage competition will be held on Sunday, when the tests will be Intro A, P14, P18 and N28. The next monthly meeting is on August 20, which will take the form of a quiz and table-top sale. There will also be a pub ride on August 10 around the Oxenhope area. Meetings are held at the Old White Lion, Haworth at 8pm, preceded by a junior meeting at 6.45pm. The Worth Valley Young Farmers this week met in Haworth for a guided tour of Airedale Springs. The group were shown how the various machines are worked. Last weekend the club supported Manorlands hospice by attending Woodfest. The club is currently looking for suggestions for voluntary community work for a few Tuesday night meetings, please see its website for further details on this.
