Petition launched to film Keighley Town Council meetings
7:40am Thursday 8th August 2013 in News
A petition has been launched this week calling on Keighley Town Council to allow people to film its public meetings.
The petition, started by members of the Cavetown Council group and backed by town MP Kris Hopkins, also urges the council to provide residents with easier access to see how public money is spent.
Ingrow resident and Cavetown Council spokesman Elizabeth Mitchell said the petition would be made available in the town centre and in local shops and cafes.
It will be presented to the council when enough signatures had been collected.
“This is our town and we want the best for it,” she added. “We just want the town council to be open and transparent, that’s all.”
The Keighley News approached the town council for a comment, but did not receive a response at the time of going to print.
