Pupils at Merlin Top Primary Academy in Keighley know their onions
3:20pm Sunday 18th August 2013 in News
Pupils at Merlin Top Primary Academy in Keighley know their onions when it comes to France.
Youngsters have been sampling French food and learning the language as part of a range of activities based on the country.
Funding awarded by West ward councillors Adrian Farley, Keith Dredge and Jan Smithies enabled Merlin Top to run a French after-school club for pupils in years four to six. Sessions were led by Madame Steph Spence.
There was also a vocabulary taster for younger pupils, games, a Bastille Day party and cafe.
Headteacher, Mike Harrison, said: “We are really grateful for the opportunity this funding gave the school to provide French lessons for our pupils.”
He added Madame Spence had been delighted with the response, and all the children had enjoyed themselves.
