Olympic athletes donate to display in Skipton

Iconic items owned by Lothersdale Olympic archer Danielle Brown and fellow medalist Andy Hodge are to go on display at Craven Museum in Skipton.
Danielle, who won the women’s gold in archery at the Paralympic Games, has handed over an archery target board.
Rower Andy, who won the gold medal in the coxless fours at the London Olympics, has donated a rowing suit and a commemorative oar. Both have also given tickets from the closing ceremony.
The display is being organised by Craven Museum’s collections and interpretations officer Martin Wills.
“I approached them both because I wanted to bring our display case, which relates to notable people of Skipton, up to date,” said Martin “The objects they have provided are amazing. The only problem at present is we are awaiting more money to improve the display area.
“We’ve received help from Skipton Building Society and Marks & Spencer, and the Friends of Craven Museum have promised some help.”
It is hoped to have the display ready for the public later this year.
