On Sunday, Lees Methodist Church will have its popular Cafe Church at 1pm, and everyone is invited to this more informal meal and act of worship. It will be led by the minister, the Rev Sandie Exley-Watts. There will be no 10.30am service.

On Bank Holiday Sunday, Haworth Cricket Club is hosting and providing a team for a Charity T20 Match in aid of Motor Neurone Disease. The family of a club member has been affected by this devastating disease and spectators are welcome to just turn up to watch from about noon. It is also aimed at being a Family Fun Day so there will be a bouncy castle for the kids (and adults!) from around 4pm and other events that will be confirmed nearer the time. A warm welcome awaits and it’s for a very special cause, all support will be very much appreciated. Refreshments will be available throughout.

The seasonal Scenic Tours bus service has its last runs on Sunday and Monday and takes in the best of our villages. The first 812 service leaves Keighley Bus Station at 10.35am for Haworth Train Station, the Parsonage, Stanbury, Ponden Reservoir and Scar Top Pine (Moor Lodge), the terminus. For the rest of the day, the service goes to and from Haworth Station and Scar Top Pine. Each bus’s arrival at Haworth is timed to link to a steam train departure and a single journey time is 20 minutes with a round trip of 45 minutes. The last trip of the day returns to Keighley at 4.45pm.

Many thanks to West Yorkshire Passenger Transport, Bradford Council, Haworth, Cross Roads and Stanbury Parish Council, Scar Top Pine and our Worth Valley Ward Councillors for funding this service.

The Haworth, Cross Roads & Stanbury Parish Council has made a request to Bradford Council to become a ‘Neighbourhood Area’. This status would mean the council – and the residents – would have a bigger say on future building and administration of local facilities and places. To make this happen the council needs to produce a Neighbourhood Development Plan or Order. Right now these documents can be viewed as there is a Consultation period until Monday, September 16, and residents can view these documents and make comments on the forms provided at Keighley Library and the Worth Valley Community Contact Point at Changegate, Haworth.
