Cullingworth drink-driver receives ban
5:10pm Thursday 29th August 2013 in News
A motorist was twice over the legal alcohol limit when he struck two parked vehicles, Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court heard.
Alexander Summersgill, 41, of Highfield Terrace in Cullingworth, pleaded guilty to driving in Harecroft, Wilsden, with 73 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath on August 13. The legal limit is 35.
The court was told he lost control of his Vauxhall Vectra at 11.45pm, but waited at the scene for police to arrive and co-operated fully with the inquiry.
Summersgill wrote to the court saying he had a clean driving licence for more than 20 years and made “a terrible mistake” when he drove that night. “I am truly sorry and totally ashamed of my actions,” he said.
He was banned for 17 months and ordered to pay a fine and costs totalling £525.
