School return for Keighley asylum girl
9:00am Friday 6th September 2013 in News
A five-year-old girl threatened with deportation will begin a new term at Ingrow Primary next week.
Dua Ali will return to school while her mother, Ayesha, nervously waits to learn the outcome to their latest application for asylum.
The pair, who fear returning to Pakistan because they converted from Islam to Christianity and could be persecuted for their religious beliefs, have already lost one asylum bid.
They were ordered to leave the UK by August 8.
The pair’s friend, Kathryn Foster, who also lives in Ingrow, said Ayesha is yet to receive a response to the application to the Home Office.
She added: “We’re at an impasse. “Solicitors are dealing with the Home Office, so hopefully this application will be better than the old one.”
