Police help Keighley youngsters to get kicks in holidays
7:00am Monday 9th September 2013 in News
Keighley Neighbourhood Policing Team helped youngsters get their kicks during the school summer holidays.
It worked with Keighley’s Jitsu Club to provide Ju-Jitsu sessions for ten to 13-year-olds at the town’s Holy Family School.
Funding was provided by West Yorkshire Police Community Trust’s i13 scheme and district councillors.
Youngsters were joined by qualified Ju-Jitsu trainer PC Anthony Detoeuf and PCSO Sean O’Shea.
Instructor was Phil Jeminson.
PCSO O’Shea said: “The project has been a fun way for the youngsters to meet their local officers, learn new skills and help build their confidence.”
At the final session – attended by councillors – gift packs, T-shirts and certificates were presented, and there was also a demonstration.
