Celebration as final touches are put to two projects at East Riddlesden Hall
11:40am Friday 13th September 2013 in News
There was a day of double celebrations at East Riddlesden Hall as two separate labours of love came to an end.
For the past three years dry stone wall volunteers, in partnership with Craven College, have been conserving and rebuilding a 300-metre stretch of wall on the Riverside Walk.
Yesterday afternoon the last stone was put in place and the wallers, staff and volunteers celebrated with a topping-off ceremony, followed by a celebratory lunch.
And the same day, expert bodger Richard Law put the final touches to and installed a wooden storytelling chair in the grounds of the hall.
He had been working on the chair for the past three months at his workshop in Strid Woods.
Inspired by the lambing chair in the kitchen at the hall, the chair will be used for storytelling sessions at the hall.
