At this month’s village council meeting councillors approved plans to extend The George public house to provide additional dining and kitchen facilities and conversion of upstairs function room and store into three bedrooms and provision for a spiral escape staircase. It also approved plans at Cullingworth & District Conservative Club to replace the conservatory with an orangery and stone patio, new entrance lobby and bottle store including an external staircase to first-floor living accommodation and a timber pergola. An application to convert High Mill, Mill Street, into apartments and the construction of four houses to the rear of the building was refused. The apartments would be a good use of the mill building but the additional housing was considered to be inappropriate in the conversion area and would add to traffic congestion on Mill Street. A further application for four houses to be built on the land to the front of the Old School House was also refused.
