Police plea for witnesses after elderly man is seriously injured in Steeton accident
4:55pm Wednesday 18th September 2013 in News
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 90s suffered “potentially life threatening” injuries following a collision in Steeton this morning.
The accident, shortly before 10.50am, left the pedestrian with serious leg injuries and a head injury, and led to the main road through the village being closed for over two hours.
The man was involved in a collision with a Ford Mondeo car at the junction of Chapel Road and Skipton Road, and a rapid response vehicle and two ambulances were sent to the scene. He was taken to nearby Airedale Hospital for treatment.
Skipton Road was closed both ways between the hospital and the traffic lights at Steeton Top until around 1.30pm for police to investigate the incident. The closure led to lengthy delays for motorists travelling between Keighley and Cross Hills.
Anyone who witnessed the collision has been asked to call the Western Area Roads Policing Unit on 101.
