Businesses and groups across Keighley are staging fundraisers for Macmillan Cancer Care.
Lavender Fields Emporium, in Cavendish Street, is staging a Macmillan coffee morning on Wednesday. And alongside the 9am to 11am event, a “Great Lavender Fields Bake Off” is being held.
People can enter their homemade cakes for a 50p fee.
Registration forms are available from Lavender Fields or by e-mailing lavenderfields.
The deadline for registration is this Saturday and cakes should be delivered on Monday ready for judging the following day. Top prize is afternoon tea for two.
Visit lavenderfieldsemporium. co.uk or call 07580 139958 for more details.
Meanwhile an Italian pub/restaurant at Wilsden is also supporting Macmillan.
Pesto is staging a fundraising event next Friday, September 27, from 9am to 11.30am.
People can enjoy tea, coffee and homemade cakes in return for a donation.
General manager Ian Russell said: “We’re very excited to back such a worthwhile cause by giving away a variety of cakes, some made by members of staff, for charitable contributions.”
And the Keighley branch of Specsavers is holding a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event for the charity. The opticians will host the event at its store in the Airedale Shopping Centre next Friday, September 27.
Staff will be on hand to offer guests tea, coffee and biscuits in exchange for donations.
Nigel Wilson, store director at Keighley Specsavers, said: ‘We all know someone who has been affected by cancer, so it’s important to support charities that do such fantastic work.”
Trinity Church at Fell Lane is also holding a coffee morning next Friday, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. The 10.30am to noon event will feature homemade cakes, tea and coffee.
