The Haworth Exhibition Trust makes small grants to assist students in further education who live in and attended schools in the Worth Valley. Application forms are available at the Haworth Medical Practice. Closing date is the Friday, September 27.
It’s the Great Stanbury Harvest Festival Bake off on Saturday, September 28 at St Gabriel’s Church, Stanbury, from 1-4pm. Competitors display goodies from noon-1pm and from 6.30pm the results will be announced and the entertainments starts. The Haworth & Oxenhope District Bridleways Group’s next monthly meeting is on Tuesday when the talk will be on winter feeding. The final pleasure ride of the season is on Sunday, September 29 (Grainwater Bridge) and there will be an in-hand fun show on Penistone Hill on Saturday, October 12. Meetings are held at the Old White Lion, Haworth, at 8pm, preceded by a junior meeting at 6.45pm. Worth Valley Young Farmers this week met at the Three Acres pub in Crossroads for their annual public speaking competition. The senior members debated a variety of topics and the junior members made a two-minute speech in front of guest judge councillor Russell Brown. Prizes will be awarded at the club’s annual general meeting, which will be held at the Three Acres pub on Tuesday.
