New Cullingworth houses rejected due to lack of car parking

Plans to build houses in the car park of an apartment building have been refused by Bradford Council because they would take spaces away from the current residents.
The Old School House in School Street, Cullingworth, was converted into 18 apartments in 2005.
Earlier this summer, Richard Dingle applied to build four three-bedroom houses in the building’s car park.
Although each house would have two parking spaces, it would lead to spaces for the current residents, and garden areas for the flats, being lost – something that didn’t sit well with planners.
Officer Paul Verity said there were already fewer parking spaces than normally required on the site, and a further reduction would lead to more on-street parking in surrounding roads, causing highway safety issues and conflict with other residents.
