On Tuesday, the Lees and Cross Roads Church and Chapel Ladies Group meets at St James' Church, Cross Roads. This week their guest is well-known, local, prize-winning gardener and Community Worker Steve Thorpe. All ladies welcome, 7.30pm start.

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway has its Autumn Steam Gala from Friday, October 11 to Sunday, October 13. There are several visiting steam locos with a distinctly Great Western theme, not to mention the KWVR’s own fleet, including the War Department locomotive 90733 which is definitely looking weathered especially for the occasion! The Friends of Lees Primary School are organising a table top sale and coffee morning for Saturday, October 19 at the school, 10am-noon. If anyone would like to book a table, the cost is £5, contact Tracey Thornber on 07889 344348.

The Worth Valley Young Farmers meet on Tuesday evenings. The monthly coffee morning is being held at Lees Methodist Church this Saturday, from 10am to 11.30am. The theme will be Autumn Leaves. These are always enjoyable occasions, with book and gift stalls. On Sunday at 10.30am, there is a church parade, involving the 1st Cross Roads Brownies. Children, parents and friends are invited to the service, which will be led by the minister the Rev Sandie Exley Watts.
