Familiar face back behind bar at popular Silsden pub

The new manager of a Silsden pub is running it in the spirit of his former boss.
Paul Thompson has taken over the Robin Hood after almost two decades working under Henry Filio.
He said his approach was proving successful because the vast majority of customers were staying.
Paul, who has lived in Silsden all his life, joined the Robin Hood soon after Henry took over 19 years ago.
When Henry left the Kirkgate hostelry earlier this year, the owners – Punch Taverns – offered Paul the managership.
He said: “I had the opportunity to take on the pub, but due to family circumstances, I couldn’t.”
Huddersfield-based Titan Pub Solutions bought the Robin Hood and employed a new manager.
Paul said: “He became ill and that’s when they approached me to come back for a few days. Nearly six weeks later, I’m still there.
“If it all works out, I hope to be here for the long haul. I put a message on the pub’s Facebook page saying ‘under old management’, and most of the customers have popped in.”
Paul said the Robin Hood will again be raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and Manorlands, and will regularly serve three cask ales.
