Keighley man pleads guilty to 'bicycle' charges
11:30am Friday 18th October 2013 in News
Two men hailed a taxi in the car park at Skipton hospital to carry three mountain bikes stolen in the town to Keighley, magistrates heard.
They were spotted by a police officer unloading the bikes at Jack Harrison’s home in Park Lane, Keighley, in the early hours of January 29 this year.
The three machines – valued at £2,500, £1,000 and £500 – had been stolen from three different properties in Skipton, two in Hurrs Road and one in Otley Road, the town’s court heard.
Harrison, 25, pleaded guilty to three counts of handling stolen goods, and was sentenced to a 12-month community order and told to pay £85 court costs and a £60 victim surcharge.
He told police the bikes had belonged to a friend, who was selling them because he had fallen out with his family.
